Communications Specialist Position


Southwest Rural Electric Association (SWRE) is seeking qualified, energetic candidates for its Communications Specialist position. This position is located in Tipton, Oklahoma.


The Communications Specialist’s role at the Cooperative is to creatively help with the strategic planning of the Cooperative’s marketing and public relation goals. The Communications Specialist uses resources and various media channels to market Cooperative services and to keep our employees, members and the public informed. The Communication Specialist is also responsible for the creation and design of the member newsletters and e-newsletters, manages the content of the Cooperative’s website and social media platforms, and provides event support for youth programs.


Qualified candidates must have a B.A. degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field, plus a minimum three (3) years of experience in written and oral communications. Candidate must possess excellent speaking skills, have experience with designing and preparing electronic and printed media, in developing and implementing public relations, communications, advertising plans, and in marketing through various social media platforms.


If selected for the interview process, Applicants need to be prepared to submit a portfolio displaying samples of written and/or design work and may be asked to write an article on a given topic.
