2009 Youth Power Energy Camp Contest
Heads
up, Texoma 8th Graders!
You could win a trip
to Youth Power Energy Camp this summer!
Each year, SWRE joins the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives
to sponsor the Youth Power Energy Camp at Red Rock Canyon near Hinton,
Oklahoma. The camp, slated for the late May (immediately after school
is dismissed for the summer), is designed to help students develop
leadership skills while having lots of fun!
By forming their own
cooperative business, camp participants will learn about leadership
and business while interacting with other 8th graders from across
the state. Campers will also have the opportunity to learn about
generating and distributing electricity by touring the electric
generation facilities at Western Farmers Electric Cooperative in
Anadarko and the offices of Caddo Electric Cooperative in Binger.
Linemen will put on safety demonstrations and students will even
get a chance to try their hand at riding bucket trucks and climbing
poles!
And that's not all!
Campers will start the summer out right by making new friends and
taking part in a variety of activities including volleyball, swimming,
ping pong, hiking, and a special “surprise” outing.
